Entering 2021, we are full of motivation, and everyone has put forward a series of New Year’s resolutions, promising to improve certain aspects of our lives. This includes eating healthy, going to bed early, increasing productivity, starting a business, and the list goes on.

As we expect to a better life in 2021, 9-Neko Editorial encourage to practice gratitude and forgiveness within your circle. We are also launched an appeal to  leave the past behind and commit ourselves to realizing our dream life in 2021.

What is Your New Year’s Resolution?

The New year’s resolutions that will fail are mostly broad ideas and have no definite plan. As we all know, planning is always the key to success. As the quote of the famous scientist Benjamin Franklin quoted, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”

Since most of us pledge to live a better life this year, we need to plan. Every plan and dream is accompanied by questions, doubts, and fears to proceed. But how do we start with our goal this year? To answer this question, we may need to sit down and list down the answers to a bucket of questions. We would like to start it off by asking: what would you do in 2021 if you knew you couldn’t fail?

This is one of the questions that struck us when we attended the How to Make 2021 Your Best Year Yet, a free workshop by Kristina Karlsson of kikki.K.

Crafting Your Action Plan

During the online workshop, Kristina asked us a series of questions that helped us revisit our long-time dreams and envisioned the goals we would achieve this year. This series of questions will help you analyse the areas of ourselves that need to focus and adjust. It makes us realize that we are frequently hindered by our self-imposed limitations and doubts. Kristina shared two more questions from the workshop below:

1. What would you do if you have all the support you need?
2. If you know this is your last year? What will you do differently?

In addition, part of the workshop is to choose one dream for 2021. The goal is to be clarify your intentions and to develop an action plan. So, let say you want to start a business this year. What are the activities do you need to do to start your own business?

Perhaps review your skills and then know what types of services you can offer to others. Next, come up with a business name and register it. Or enrol in online skills enhancement courses, conduct in-depth market research, start your business plan, and more. You have listed down all possible actions that may realise your dream business this year.

You can also do that with other goals you have for 2021. On the other hand, a vision board, journaling, and reminders on your phone are also encouraged. This will allow you to view your dreams and prompt you to take action daily. This is to make sure that your passions, values, and goals are all aligned. The workshop also emphasized the importance of visualising the amazing experience you want to have. For example, meeting key people or things you want to surround yourself with.

How Much Time would you live for?

Kristina also mentioned the importance of time. If someone tells you how many years, weeks, hours you had left to live, will this change your lifestyle? We were also blown by this question and the formula she shared with us. Let's say you have 100 years minus your current age of (say, 35). That is equal to 65 years to live. Multiply by 12, you have 780 months left to live.

By making a plan, it may be in the driver’s seat of your own life. “When you plan your year and your time, you are taking control of your dream life – not living a life by default, but taking charge of your own time and progress." - Quote Kristina Karlsson
